John Ford Point Monument Valley

John Ford Point Monument Valley in testament to Academy Award winning John Ford, this over look was the vantage point for may of his iconic Western movies, particularly in the mid 1900's including Stagecoach and Fort Apache. From standing on the point, it is understandable why he choose these locations to create his iconic movies because of the incredible views it offers into the red desert of Monument Valley. At sunset, I was given a treat from this stunning overlook with how the shadows cast a three dimensional effect on the buttes creating a strong contrast which was emphasised by the clouds. I waited as long as possible to capture this moment. The sound of the Navajo Nation people packing up their gift stores with children playing and the faint rubbling of cars leaving the Monument Valley Loop Drive and the calmness from the sky brings an end to a memorable day in the valley, cherished by those who will share their story for years to come.
